Matomo, CNIL’s recommendations et GDPR

The CNIL (an independent French administrative regulatory body) recalls on its website (french website): how to comply with the recommendation “Cookies” of the CNIL ?

Two solutions:

– Use an audience measurement tool exempted from consent

– Gather the consent of the user in other cases

Matomo is one of only 3 statistical data management solutions that can benefit from the exemption.

For this there is a slight parameterization to achieve. Aknow that the expiration of cookies at 13 months is now configured by default, remains the settings on the “do not track” and anonymized IP address management (masking at least the 2 last bytes).
