Did you know? Customise the navigation on Koha’s OPAC

In the second blog post of our new series “Did you know?” we will see how to customise the navigation on the Opac’s homepage. At the end of this article you will be able to create a menu similar to the one of the Médiathèque Intercommunale Ouest Provence home page.

To start you just have to connect on the Koha Staff Interface (username: test and password: test) and then go to Koha Administration> Global system preferences > OPAC.

Once in the OPAC tab of the system preferences, the interesting part for today is called OpacNav (framed in red below).

To create a similar menu as the one we saw on the Médiathèque Intercommunale Ouest Provence website just click on “Click to modify” and add the links and information you want. If you are not confortable with html, you just have to copy the structure of each line and replace http://www.your-url-1.com by the on you want. To give the link you want, do the same with My account, Library portal, etc. We also provide SQL and html training if you want to improve your skills in this field.

After that, just go at the bottom of the page to validate and return on Koha’s OPAC to see the difference on the left column of your OPAC:
