Did you know? Allow patrons to choose their own privacy settings for their reading history

In this new “Did you know?“, we will see how to allow patrons to choose their own privacy settings for their reading history. Once this option activated, your patrons will be able to choose to keep their reading history forever, for the duration permitted by law or to delete it immediately.

To start you just have to connect on the Koha Staff Interface (username: test and password: test) and then go to Koha Administration> Global system preferences > OPAC.

Once in the OPAC tab of the system preferences, the interesting part for today is called OPACPrivacy.

To see the result once the system preference activated, you just have to return on Koha’s OPAC, open your user user profile (username: test and password: test) and go on the my privacy tab. You will then be able to set the privacy rule you want and decide to keep your reading history forever, to set the defaut durantion time defined by the applicable law or to delete it immediatly. You can also decide to delete manually and irreversibly your history.
